Sounds good, right? Here's what it means:
As a good TCRG fan, you already know that our last game of the season was on August 7. "You just started in April, and now it's all over?" you lament? By most sports standards, that is a really short season. This isn't our choice! We live in a winter sports town and we rely on venues that put their hockey or curling ice in at the end of August. After that, we've got no real home until April rolls around again. As you can imagine, this limits our ability to bring fast-paced, hard-hitting roller derby action to the Lower Mainland. It also limits our ability to practice hard all year round to remain competitive with the rest of the roller derby leagues in North America; and if you've ever seen us play, you KNOW we don't like to lose.
There's a solution: If we could get our hands on some sports flooring (you know, those durable plastic floor tiles that snap together), the heavens would open up. We could slap down our new floor and play in venues we couldn't before because they don't want our wheels to mark up their floor - like gyms, exhibition halls or Pacific Coliseum (Hey, we can dream, can't we?) or in spaces that would normally be dangerous for us. But sports flooring is expensive. Like, $20,000 expensive.

"Oh my stars, you poor things! I want to help!" you cry in the night? Well, don't worry your pretty little head - you can help by owning a piece of the action! If you donate $20 by September 30th, you will be the proud owner of your very own sports flooring tile! Well, you won't be able to actually take your tile home, but you can cheer from the stands knowing that one of those cute little tiles under our thundering wheels belongs to you and only you. "That's nice, I guess, but what’s in it for me?" you demand? Glory! You'll receive a special gift from us acknowledging your supreme awesomeness, and your name will be hallowed on our website. Fabulous prizes! For every $20 you donate, you'll be entered into a Grand Prize Draw, including 2011 season tickets, concert tickets and more. "Okay, I'm in! How do I get involved?" you exclaim? Here how:
Go to our website and click on the “Own a Piece of the Action” button in the top right corner – this leads to our secure Paypal account.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 by September 30th. That's one tile each for 1000 fans. And we know you're out there. We see you in the stands, lurking on Facebook and following our tweets. We are so grateful to have the best roller derby fans in the country, and we couldn’t do any of this without you. Own a piece of the action, and you’ll help us further our campaign for world derby domination!
Fresh Meat Tryouts are being held at the Royal City Curling Club this year on August 22 and 28th! Please email recruiting@terminalcityrollergirls.com to register for one date and receive more information.

INFO
Tryout fee = $15 so save your pennies!!! Bring exact change please.
Please bring TWO pieces of ID. One MUST be a BC CareCard and one should have your picture on it (e.g., drivers licence). Please bring a photocopy of both so we can keep a copy! If you forget either we will have to turn you away. And we are not mean people. We don't wanna do that.
Girls are to be on the track, ready to test at 6pm. Please be there 20 minutes early to get your paperwork finished, get your pretty pic taken, and get your gear on. Testing runs until 8pm.
Bring a water bottle!
There will be a table of random gear provided but ideally we would like to see you in your QUAD skates, your helmet, your elbow pads, your knee pads and your wrist guards. We would also like to see a mouthguard but you wont be hitting each other so it is not exactly essential. But you're going to need one eventually anyways...

The Terminal City Rollergirls' regular season ended with two explosions in Minoru Arena on June 26. The first was from Seattle’s Throttle Rockets, as they shot up the scoreboard 194-80 over the Riot Girls, while the second shot heard around the flat track came from L.A. Gunns and the unstoppable Bad Reputations, as they continued their mighty winning streak, beating the Faster Pussycats 187-52.
After setting the modern attendance record for roller derby this month –packing over 6,000 people at Seattle’s Key Arena -- it was derby-heaven for the Vancouver crowd to catch Rat City Roller Girls’ own Throttle Rockets from the beer-garden-y comfort of Minoru.

Calling all rookies... the rEvolution is here!
Vancouver's Terminal City Rollergirls are pleased to host the second annual rookie rEvolution on Saturday, July 10th at the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster.
After last year's immense success, we are once again pleased to host a fun-filled, hard-hitting day of drills and scrimmaging, for rookies only! This is an exciting chance to connect with skaters from other leagues of a similar skill level, to expand on your skating ability through some hardcore workshops, and to apply it on the track with a scrimmage to finish the day. Based on the incredible success of last year, this is an event you don’t want to miss!
